Just in Case You Ever Wonder

By Max Lucado

Romans 8:31

If God is for us, who can be against us?

Preschool Series - MISSON

In this series, children will learn that Jesus loves us so much, and he wants us to share his love with others. In fact, Jesus gives us a job to do: to share his love with the whole world! It’s a big job, but together with God’s help, we can do it.

God's Story - Paul

Acts 9

Part of God’s story is about Paul. He went from hating people who loved Jesus to becoming someone who loved Jesus. Quite a change! He would spend the rest of his life getting to know God and telling others about God.

Paul's Ministry

How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Romans 10:15b (NIRV)

Let's do the actions!

How [hold your hands palms up as if asking a question]

beautiful [point at your face and smile]

are the feet [stamp your feet]

of those [point to others]

who bring [pull your arms back in towards you]

good news! [pump your fists in the air]

Big Idea: Jesus gives us a job to do.

Sing and Dance!

June Series: JAMES - LIVING IT

When we call ourselves followers of Jesus, or Christians, we can't just say we follow Jesus, and not live like it. We must show it by how we live. Living for Jesus means living a different way, following in the way of Jesus as we understand it in Scripture, and as we work it through in community, the church. Our life, our words, and our actions must line-up with the label: Jesus-follower.

You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes. Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient.

Colossians 3:12 (NIRV)

Let's talk about it!

What’s something you like that your closest friend does not like?

What happens when your friend doesn’t like something that you think is really cool?

When you have a problem or want someone’s opinion, who do you go to (e.g., parent, sibling, friend, babysitter, grandparent, teacher, or God)?

Big Idea: When we live for Jesus, we care more what God thinks than what people think.

Today's God Story

Sometimes we care too much about what other people think and not enough about what God wants for us.

Create a reminder to keep growing closer to God. It might be a door hanger or a bracelet or a refrigerator magnet.

When you are making your reminder think about how you could get closer to God?

What do you think could happen when you are closer to God?

Ask God to help you draw closer to him and care more about his ways.

Grades 4-6

Conversation starters...

In the past week, did you have any situations when you stopped to think about what you were going to say before you spoke? Or you stayed quiet instead of complaining or gossiping?

Did you encourage anyone this week?

As we get to know Jesus, we discover that he’s got the best advice and is the greatest example of how to live.

Today, we’re going to talk about whose opinions we value most and why.

Who would you go to for advice about sports?

How about math?

What you should wear?

What to do about a fight with a friend?

Who do you spend the most time with?

Have you ever spent so much time with someone that you started to pick up things they said or did?

Big Idea: When we live for Jesus, we care more what God thinks than what people think.

Read James 4:8

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you”

What are some ways we can come close to God? (e.g., reading the Bible; praying— talking to him and listening; journaling—writing, or even drawing, the things that we learn about him; listening to worship music; talking about God with others; asking other people who follow Jesus questions about him)

When have you felt closest to God?

What is it like to be close with God? How would you describe it to someone who has never had that experience?

Is there someone you know who is a little closer to God than you are? Who is it? In what ways can you learn from them?

What is the best way for you to draw closer to God? Which first steps can you make today?

Wk 3 - Prayer Cube.pdf

Pray that you would experience God in a fresh way this week.

Grades 7-9

Who’s the one person you care most what they think of you? Why?

Would you ever do something they dislike? Why or why not?

Most people care what others think of them, even if they don’t admit it! Do you think that gets easier or harder as you get older? Why?

What do you think God thinks of you?

Which words do you think he might use to describe you?

Big Idea: When we live for Jesus, we care more what God thinks than what people think.

Words with meaning...

Which of these Bible verses stands out for you? Why? What do you think God might be saying to you?

But you belong to God, my dear children. 1 John 4:4a (NLT)

The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that. Proverbs 29:25 (MSG)

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.(Paul) Galatians 1:10 (NLT)

Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NLT)

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. Psalm 118:8 (NLT)

In the Bible, God calls each of us his child. Jesus says we are the light of the world. He calls us his beloved. He made us ambassadors of his kingdom. It seems that God thinks highly of us!

With that in mind, what are your thoughts on today’s Big Idea (When we live for Jesus, we care more what God thinks than what people think)?

The Bible also tells us to be aware of what people think, so we can be good ambassadors or representatives for God’s kingdom.

Can you think of a time when you were a good representative?

How about a time when that wasn’t the case?
